Here’s an important piece by Jeff Jarvis published in The Guardian that every newspaper publisher needs to read. He’s not saying anything particularly new, but his message for newspapers to embrace Google and not fear and fight it apparently still needs to be spread. That the World Association of Newspapers is threatening legal action against Google for excerpting members’ content is astounding. Newspapers have a tough future ahead; suing Google doesn’t improve the situation, it just distracts publishers from the true challenge of adapting worn-out business models to the digital age.
